Our practice utilises a synergistic approach, primarily employing the "Gordian Pillar - the fundamental five," and integrating it with the modern hypnosis techniques of "Ericksonian" when appropriate. This synergy enables us to directly target the core issues our clients present, facilitating effective and lasting change.
Our strategic focus is on pinpointing and modifying outdated coping mechanisms, rather than getting bogged down in past events. This future-oriented approach aims to empower clients with more effective strategies for navigating present and future challenges, fostering resilience and self-sufficiency.
While psychotherapy provides tools that operate at the conscious level, hypnosis allows us to access and address issues at the unconscious level. This dual approach offers a comprehensive and holistic treatment strategy, ensuring a more profound and enduring impact. Furthermore, numerous psychotherapy tools can be implemented as alternatives to hypnosis, offering a versatile and adaptable approach to treatment.Psychotherapy employs a diverse array of tools tailored to individual needs and therapeutic goals. Cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT) utilises techniques like cognitive restructuring and exposure therapy to modify maladaptive thoughts and behaviours. Psychodynamic therapy explores unconscious patterns through methods such as free association and dream analysis. Humanistic therapy emphasises empathy and unconditional positive regard to foster self-awareness and personal growth. Dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT) integrates mindfulness, distress tolerance, and emotional regulation skills. Other tools include motivational interviewing, mindfulness-based practices, and interpersonal therapy, each offering unique approaches to address various psychological challenges.
These alternatives allow us to tailor our methods to each client's unique needs and preferences, ensuring the most effective and comfortable path to healing and growth.

Strategic Psychotherapy, developed by Jay Hayley, prioritises therapist-directed action over client insight. Influenced by Milton Erickson, it focuses on identifying and strategically addressing client problems by helping them recognise their role in creating the problem and addressing knowledge gaps. While client-centred, the therapist guides the process, leveraging the client's strengths for brief, solution-focused therapy.

We offer a tailored approach to hypnotherapy, moving away from traditional scripted methods.
Here’s how we stand out:
• We focus on the 'how' not the 'why', understanding that insight alone isn't enough.
• We use a modern, permissive hypnosis style ('Neo-Eriksonian') for broader effectiveness.
• We view unhelpful patterns as learned behaviours that can be changed.
• We provide tools and skills to address the root cause of issues, ensuring lasting change. We focus on learned cognitive styles, as research suggests conditions like depression and anxiety are learned and therefore changeable.

During your first therapy session, expect an initial assessment where you'll discuss your reasons for seeking therapy, personal history, and goals. This session is also a chance to get acquainted with your therapist, ask questions, and allows them to gather essential information to formulate a client care plan tailored to your needs.

The number of therapy sessions needed differs for each individual, depending on their circumstances and goals. Some may only need a few sessions, while others require longer-term support. The duration of your therapy will be discussed and agreed upon with your therapist. Many clients enjoy the therapeutic process and choose to continue sessions on an ongoing basis. However, if the therapist believes that the client no longer needs therapy, they will discuss finalising the sessions, with the option to return if needed in the future.

Yes, confidentiality is a cornerstone of psychotherapy. What you discuss in therapy is kept strictly confidential, with a few exceptions: as mandatory reporters, we are required to report suspicions of crimes, abuse, self-harm or harm to others, court subpoenas, or abuse/neglect of children or vulnerable adults.
We safeguard client information through password protection and secure storage of paper copies, if any. Client records are kept for seven years. -
